Acceptable use

Self-reviewed · last updated 2026-10-09. Written by us from what the app actually does; not reviewed by a lawyer.

SOS is free for everyone, and free must not mean exploitable. This policy, part of the terms of use, says what you must not do with the app.

Do not

How abuse is prevented

Limits apply only to the paths that cost money or can reach strangers. Your phone's own SMS to your SOS contacts is never blocked, so a real emergency always gets out.

AbuseWhat the app does
SOS used as free SMSSOS messages go only to people on your SOS list; when our service sends texts, they will be fixed templates (name, link, battery, time) to at most 10 SOS contacts
Harassment by fake SOSA paired contact can unpair at any time, which stops alarms on their phone; once the cloud service exists, contacts can also reply STOP, tap "Don't alert me from this person" or "Report abuse"
Test spamTest runs are marked TEST and never call 112; the cloud service will limit them (for example 3 a day)
Faked or replayed alarmsAlarms between paired phones are signed with the pair's secret; forged, edited or replayed texts are ignored
Fake accounts and trial farmingOnce accounts exist: one account per verified phone number, device checks, one trial per number and device, credits not transferable
Abusive AI contentRefused on the phone before sending; provider safety filters stay on

What happens if you break this policy

We may limit or end your access to the cloud service and paid features (for example server texts after reports are reviewed). We do not block your phone's own SOS messages. Where the law requires it, we report illegal activity to the authorities.
